When should a home or building be inspected for mold?

  • A Mold Inspection should be done if you want to determine if mold is growing in your home.
  • A Mold Inspection should be done if purchasing any home, especially if the home was vacant or being sold “as-is”.
  • Mold Testing should be done after any flooding or water damage event. 
  • Mold Testing should be done whenever you find a leak that has been present for more than 48 hours.
  • Mold Testing should be done if you smell or suspect mold but do not see any visible mold growth.
  • Mold Testing should be done if unusual stains or growth appear on furniture or building material.
  • Mold Testing should be done if residents of your home experience a long-term medical condition without a known cause.

 

How Much Does an Inspection Cost?

Basic visual Mold Inspections are $75 but there are numerous variables.  It is important to define the scope of the inspection and testing services that are needed before a formal quote for the services can be generated.  The inspectors at The Attic Doctor will take the time to discuss the specifics of your project and define a clear scope of inspection that will be presented in writing prior to the start of work.  We can guarantee that the areas inspected, general inspection methods used, and number of samples will be fully determined before any costs are incurred by the client.  Some of the things that may affect the costs of inspection are below:

  1. The location of the building. (we service all of Greater Columbus, but additional travel fees may be added traveling outside of the greater Columbus, Ohio area.)
  2. The areas to be inspected. (we can provide inspection of a single room or an entire building including attics, crawlspace, and storage areas)
  3. Cavity / borescope inspections
  4. Thermal imaging camera inspections
  5. The size of the building
  6. The type of testing requested
  7. The amount of samples required
  8. Special building concerns (tall warehouses or industrial facilities may require the use of ladders or rental of special lifts and safety gear)
